Shannon Novak improvised musical performance, artist talk and augmented reality app demonstration
1pm, Saturday 24 February
In the Atrium, Pātaka Art + Museum
For the last month the full height windows of Pātaka’s atrium have become a multi-colored lantern of interconnected geometric forms. Created by award-winning New Zealand artist Shannon Novak, this specially-designed installation floods the atrium with colours and shapes, and also fills your ears with sound composed by Shannon, via a free app that you can download to accompany the artwork.
At 1pm Shannon Novak will play an improvised musical response on a grand piano to an augmented reality experience of his floor-to-ceiling NEXUS installation at Pātaka. After his performance Shannon will describe his creative processes and demonstrate the augmented reality app he has created to bring details of NEXUS to life.
Shannon is also exhibiting a digitally augmented artwork as part of The Performance Arcade 2018, on Wellington’s Waterfront 23-25 February and 1-4 March.
