Please join us to hear Slovenian-Swiss artist Peter Augustin talk with curator, Mark Hutchins-Pond, about his formative painting experiences in Europe and the works in his current exhibition; Peter Augustin – Couleur vivante (Living Colour)

Peter Augustin is a figurative painter working with oil, acrylic, and mixed media in a uniquely lyrical abstract style. His paintings reflect the passion and excitement he feels when inspired by the beauty of nature and the expressive potential of the human form. Peter’s elegant, post-impressionist portraits and figure studies are refreshingly fluid, heavily symbolic and laden with colour and emotion.

Peter Augustin was born in Slovenia and lived in Switzerland for 35 years, where he was a student of well-respected Swiss artist Paul Haehlen. He exhibited his work widely in Europe and is a member of the Swiss Art Society, the Slovenian Art Society and the New Symbolists Group of St. Petersburg, Russia, before moving to New Zealand’s Kapiti Coast in 2004 and became member of The Academy of Fine Arts, NZ Art Guild, and The New Zealand Watercolour Society.
