1:00pm-2:30pm session * ($10)

We’ve noticed some awesome hidden rocks appearing around Porirua. It’s time Pātaka joined the fun. Come along and be ready to create your own Pātaka rocks. Be inspired by the art on display and paint designs on smooth rounded stones. Take your rocks home and unleash them into the world! Find a hidden spot in a park or garden to give somebody else a surprise.

Games and Toys with Recycled Materials
10:00am-11:30am session ($10)
1:00pm-2:30pm session * ($10)

Explore the wonderful world of games and toys through a sustainable lens. We are going to make ‘tic, tac, toe’, potaka (spinning tops) and even fidget spinners all out of recycled materials. You will never look at a plastic bottle the same way!

Thursday 13 July
10:00am-11:30am session ($10)
1:00pm-2:30pm session * ($10)

Card etching, rubber stamps and match box pop-ups. This is a busy day of printmaking using our classroom printing press. Come along in old clothes and prepare to have a hands-on printmaking experience.

Tuesday 18 July
Tiki Sculpture Day
For 8-13 years old ($25)

Bring your lunch and come along to this 4 hour workshop where we will be inspired by the work of Kereama Taepa to create our own tiki sculpture. This is a hands-on day where we will use wire, tinfoil and sculpey clay to build our forms. Learn about different kowhaiwhai and whakairo patterns and create a real treasure to take home.

1:00pm-2:30pm session * ($10)

Are you are collector? Do you collect stamps or stones or shells or bugs! Bring along your collection that fits in a bag to Pātaka. We will explore Pātaka’s museum collection and find out why we value objects and why humans collect things! Then come into our classroom and become a curator! We will have many different size boxes and containers so you can design and layout your collection in your own mini museum.
