Ruben Puertos, also known as Boris Yeye Bits, from Mexico will be leading this papier-mâché course and demonstrating techniques for making La Catrina, a central figure in the Mexican Day of the Dead Celebrations. The workshop will be split over 2 weekends. The first workshop introduces techniques for creating wire frameworks and covering them with papier-mâché.
In the next workshop the following weekend attendees will paint and finish their creations.
Pātaka Friends Arts Trail 2019 Call For Entry

After a very successful inaugural Friends of Pataka Arts Trail in March 2018, both artists and public asked that this be an annual event. Plans are well underway for the 2019 event over the weekend 16th and 17th March. Artists from Pukerua Bay to Tawa are invited to register.
The trail shows off arts/craftspeople from the many different creative disciplines and cultures that are often hidden from general public view and offers the viewer an opportunity to see and buy work being created in the various studios and workspaces. Trail brochures will be available from the beginning of March 2019.

Come and learn about the very latest climate science and be inspired by creative projects that help us to understand and care about our planet.
The panellists include expert climate scientists, Professors James Renwick (Victoria University) and Dr Craig Stevens (NIWA), joined by Track Zero Founder, Sarah Meads and local special guests: artist, researcher and educator, Gabby O’Connor; artist, artistic director Sam Trubridge; artist, curator and researcher, Dr Huhana Smith, and; artist Elizabeth Thomson.

Artists whose works will be for sale at the auction event include Heimler & Proc, Rohan Wealleans, and Micheline Robinson. Plus an artwork created by Jacinda Ardern. Bidding reserves range from $250 to $2,000. During the exhibition you can view all of the pieces that will be auctioned AND you can also explore, and buy, artwork from over 50 other amazing artists from across Wellington.
